Atharvaved Mahayajnya
at Greater Atlanta Vedic Temple
Greater
Atlanta Vedic Temple hosted its annual Mahayajna on
Sunday, April 26. This year, it was Atharvaved Mahayajnya for Health and Happiness. The Mahayajna was well
attended by over 300 devotees from Greater Atlanta community. The Vedic Temple
has been traditionally hosting this Mahayajnya every
year since last 15+ years and people of many countries, including India, Nepal,
Bhutan, Guyana, Trinidad and of course the USA, enthusiastically participate in
it.
The
Mahayajna was officiated by Vedic Temple Priest,
Acharya Ved Shrami ji aided by Dr. Madhusudhan Chandora (Trustee, Vedic Temple), Sh. Vishrut
Arya (Trustee, Vedic Temple). Dr. Devbala Ramanathan from Dropadi Jigyasu Ashram, Flushing New York was the guest speaker on
the event.
The
program started with Prabhat Pheri
(morning procession) and Aum Flag hoisting. Once the Yajmans
were seated, the Mahayajna started with Yajnyopaveet Ceremony, Havan
Mantras followed by special Atharaved Mantra
Offerings for health and happiness with some 51 simultaneous Havan Kunds under the grand tent
on the grounds of the Greater Atlanta Vedic Temple.
Sh.
Pratap Singh Chouhan (Patanjali Yogapeeth, Atlanta),
Sh. Bhuvnesh Khosla (General Secretary, Arya Pratinidhi Sabha America) were
also present as guests of honor to participate in the Mahayajna.
After
the Mahayajna, Shri Gangadhar
Timilsina (General Secretary, Vedic Temple) welcomed
all the guests. Vice President of Vedic
Temple, Dr. Savitha Kootil
gave an introduction to all the activities and services offered by Vedic
Temple. A video interview of Acharya Vedshrami was showed and well appreciated by the audience.
Dr.
Deen B Chandora (Founder
& Trustee, Vedic Temple) addressed the audience with gratitude to Nepalese
community present at the Mahayajna and offered
temple’s premises and resources for use by Nepalese community. Greater Atlanta
Vedic Temple was raising funds for their building project, but graciously
decided to set aside a portion for the relief and rebuild work required in
Nepal.
The
chief guests, Sh. Pratap Singh Chouhan
(Patanjali Yogapeeth
Atlanta) and Sh. Bhuvnesh Khosla (General Secretary, Arya Pratinidhi Sabha
America) addressed the gathering with their gratitude and gave words of support
for Greater Atlanta Vedic Temple. Shri Bhuvnesh Khosla invited the devotees to
attend the Silver Jubilee Sammelan of Arya Pratinidhi Sabha America, to be held
in Houston from Jule 30 – Aug 2, 2015.
Mrs.
Sunita Bagga and Shri Kulvir Singh presented the annual recognition awards to
distinguished volunteers and youth of the Vedic Temple.
The
Arya Yuvak Mandal presented melodious bhajans and Ved mantras
recitations. The youth included Priyanka
Menon, Devika Menon, Anushrav
Arya, Shruti Mishra,Vedasrh Mishra, Sanskriti
Mishra, Sudeep Giri, Suveer Giri and Havishkrit Arya amongst others.
Shri
Dhirendra Sharma, President of Greater Atlanta Vedic
Temple offered his vote of thanks to the attendees. The program concluded by
observing a moment of silence for the victims died in Nepal Earthquake.
The
features of the event included a Ved Prachar bookstall coordinated by Dr. Deen
B. Chandora, which was well appreciated. TV Asia was
also present to cover the event.
