OVERVIEW OF PROGRAM
In consideration of the 9th principle of Arya Samaj, No one should be content with promoting his/her good only; on the contrary, one should look for his/her good in promoting the good of all, Arya Pratinidhi Sabha America is establishing a scholarship program to make higher education more accessible while imparting Vedic Values.
An endowment fund will be established and will be composed of restricted funds earmarked only for the scholarship program.
OBJECTIVES
- Make a positive impact by helping defray higher education costs.
- Increase the outreach of Arya Samaj and spread awareness of Vedic teachings among young generations.
ANNUAL SCHOLARSHIPS AWARDED
- 4 General Awards $ 2,000
- 1 Need Based Award $ 2,000
SCHOLARSHIP ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
- Pass VDAT-1 for 1st year and pass subsequent VDAT exams for scholarship renewals.
- Submit and essay on topics related to Vedic Values.
- Fulltime enrollment in a 2 or 4-year degree program.
- At least one parent of the applicant must be of Hindu descent.
- Applicant must be a legal immigration status in United States.
- Applicant must have been admitted to an accredited college/university.
- Maintain a GPA of 3.0 (B Average)
GRADING OF SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATIONS
A qualified team of individuals will be created for the independent and unbiased evaluation of the scholarship applications. Weightage will be given on the general criteria given based on academic excellence, standard college entrance test scores, written essay, and financial need.
ANNUAL TIME-LINE
January 1st – Online Application Available
March 31st – Completion of VDAT Required
April 15th – Scholarship Application Deadline
May 31 – Scholarship Application Evaluations
July – Scholarship awards ceremony in conjunction with annual Arya Maha Sammelan
SCHOLARSHIP ENDOWMENTS
All Donations to the endowment fund are 100% Tax Deducible
Endowments Can be made in form(s) of:
- One-time contribution in any amount
- Sponsor 1 Student (4 Years) – $ 2,000 per year
- Named Endowment – $ 50,000 minimum
- Long-term appreciated securities including stocks, bonds, and mutual funds directly thru brokerage account.
Donors to remain anonymous if requested.
